Charlotte

Meet Charlotte. She came from Leon province and arrived in the summer of 2016 and is around 16 years of age. She is a rather quiet donkey with a very sweet nature. She has severe laminitis. At the moment we are treating her legs against biting flies and applying ointment to small sores and so she is wearing trousers during the day to keep the flies away.

April 2016

Five donkeys were rescued from an extremely muddy environment and miserable conditions in Cantabria. They were initially helped by El Refugio del Burrito in Malaga and they contacted Marleen here at El Paraiso del Burro to request a home for these poor animals. The four female donkeys, together with one male, were brought to their new home here in Asturias.  They are now happy in their new, healthier environment. At the moment, Yoni, the male donkey is living in an enclosed area as he has recently been castrated but the females are together in a large open field.

Here you can see the ladies, from left to right: Cora, Rebecca, Marieke and little Ayla. They all love to be stroked and enjoy human company.

And here is the handsome Yoni who will be integrated with the other donkeys when his recuperation period is over.

Franka was born in August 2015. She is the daughter of Xana and is the first donkey to be born at the Paraiso del Burro. We are very proud of her.
